daVinci Robotic Assisted Surgery

Minimally Invasive Robotic Assisted Surgery

Minimally invasive robotic assisted surgery combines minimally invasive surgery, robotic technology, and human to machine interaction. In general, patients experience fewer complications, less pain, shorter hospital stays, and a quicker return to normal activity. The daVinci surgical system provides surgeons with an advanced set of instruments for robotic assisted minimally invasive surgery. A robot does not perform the surgical procedure. Surgeons operate with the daVinci system by using instruments guided via a console.

The surgeon controls all the instruments. Every hand movement is translated by the daVinci system in real time to bend and rotate the instruments and perform the surgical procedure. Surgeons operate through small incisions using wristed instruments that provide a greater range of motion than the human wrist. The system uses a magnified 3-D high definition vision system and camera inserted through a small incision. The system provides an enhanced 3-D view of the surgical field. With the daVinci system, surgeons operate with enhanced vision, precision, and control.
