Coronavirus (COVID-19) Confirmed in Independence County

Administrator 03/01/2020

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Confirmed in Independence County

The care and safety of patients, visitors, employees, and communities are top priorities for White River Health System (WRHS). WRHS staff continues to take proactive measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

“This afternoon we received notification of two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Independence County. At this time, there are no confirmed patient cases within White River Medical Center (WRMC). After receiving this report of cases within the community, WRHS is enhancing pre-planned safety measures that comply with state and federal recommendations. The increased safety precautions further promote the safety of patients and employees of WRHS,” said Gary Paxson, WRHS President and CEO.

“Screening measures have been in place in WRHS since March 4 to protect our patients, employees, and the public per CDC recommendations. We are carefully following the clinical guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other regulatory bodies,” said Paxson.
“We routinely care for patients with infectious illnesses and are both prepared and well-equipped to provide quality care while maintaining the safety of our employees and other patients.

For weeks, WRHS has been preparing for this type of situation and we have transitioned through three pre-planned phases of implementation to apply best practice measures.”

Paxson offered, “My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the Coronavirus throughout Arkansas and the United States.”
