Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation is a medically supervised program of education and exercise for patients with heart, lung, and vascular disease. Patients may be referred to Cardiac Rehab or Pulmonary Rehab. White River Health offers Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Batesville and Mountain View.

Treatment Team

Your treatment team for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab includes Registered Nurses and Exercise Physiologists who work with you to develop a personalized care plan. Educational sessions may include Registered Dietitians, Respiratory Therapists, Pharmacists, and Chaplains who help you learn how to manage your condition and enjoy your best possible state of health.

Is Cardiopulmonary Rehab covered by health insurance?

Yes. Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab are covered services paid for by Medicare and most commercial insurances. . We will call your insurance company and talk with you about your coverage and any out of pocket expenses you may incur before you begin the program.

What will I do during each session?

Each session will include up to one hour of education and exercise.

How many sessions will I attend?

The number of sessions will depend on your condition and fitness. We have 2 day and 3 day per week programs for our patients’ convenience.

Can I enter the program if I smoke?

Stopping smoking is an important part of getting stronger and healthier. Note - Some insurance companies exclude current smokers from Pulmonary Rehab coverage. We can help you determine your coverage.

What will be monitored while I am exercising?

During each session, our staff will continuously monitor your blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.

What happens after I finish the program?

What you can learn and practice during the program should carry over into your daily life after the program ends.
